Tick tock tick tock...

Monday is already around the corner and I've just finished the painting I'll have to mail for the swap group, I can't share it and still have to convince myself that my partner will like it, it's hard when you have to send it to someone whose art you've admired for long, the anxiety is higher than usual.

I've ended up looking through old images of some of the swaps I've made through these years. This is one I painted but didn't send, when I started it I always had in mind to use it as a study for a larger painting, and now that I look around and see 3 unfinished works that doesn't really appeal my eye I think that maybe it's the time to revisit it, going bigger and approaching it in a different way, I can't help the facepalms each time I look at the base of those lanterns, love the colors and patterns though, need need neeeeed to do a 2.0 version

EDIT: Lanterns version 2.0 WIP: step 1, step 2, step 3, step 4, step 5, step 6, step 7, step 8, step 9, step 10, step 11, step 12, step 13, step 14

I really think this is a wonderful painting, Teresa! But I would love to see you tackle it again bigger - large and with lots of WOW Power :)

Thanks for visiting my blog, Teresa. Do I know you from Hispacuarela? I made a lot of friends in Spain from that site, but I don't recall your name.
This is a very cool painting, right up my alley. I agree with Rhonda, it feels as though it should be BIG, why not give it a try? (I have a theory every ptg has its perfect size). Also, if you haven't already, check out Judy Morris' work, she has done some great stuff with this theme. Charles Sluga, also.
I see the quote attributed to me..,did I really say that? lol

Thanks Ann, you know you're going to hear me rant a lot about this one at pals, right? but it's exciting to try something out of my comfort zone, I liked how the repetition and lack of a center of interest worked well together in it but I'm not confident about how to make it interesting and not overwhelming in a big format and still keep those 2 factors.

Rhonda, right now I'm a bit lost about how to approach it, I'm only certain about I want it BIG, probably a whole sheet (you know me well enough to see me getting cold feet already, right?), and I want it to have BLACK, other than that I already know that my usual way of painting probably won't work in something that big so I'm open to suggestions if you know what I mean ;)

Nick, no you don't know me, I've been familiar with your works for years but I'm a bit of a lurker, yet I just had to jump right in when I saw your post about Sorolla since he's one of my favourite painters. Will google those artists right now, thanks for pointing at them, going big is surely out of my comfort zone and I'm a bit lost about how to handle it. About the quote, you DID say it lol, check out your own dvd, I found the sentence really enlightening and I'm sticking to it each time I start to get messy.
